I corresponded with my Aunt Nancy for many years via letters. This song was created from Nancy's own words taken from these letters she wrote to me. Some of her life experiences and lessons she called pearls and she would keep these pearls in a figurative treasure box.

I actually finished recording this song March 6 in order to send it to her when I found out the doctors were giving her only months to live. I found out the next day that she had passed away around the same time I was recording the song. I was grieved that she was not able to hear it but then, maybe she did.

Nancy was a pearl, precious and rare formed by God to survive the irritable, cutting piece of sand that caused her so much pain. His love surrounded her and her faith and hope in Jesus Christ strengthened her through this malady. Although her physical body was marred, her spirit shined brightly.
